A poetic journey to the heart of the Urals, where the discovery of an alien creature uncovers a haunting secret.

Somewhere deep in the Urals, abandoned buildings hold more than just memories of the past. They also bear witness to a secret that has plagued the community since the Stalin era. Local people speak about strange events that occurred decades ago, leading to the gradual extinction of their once-bustling community. We discover a group of people on video footage taken at the local police station in the 1990s. They examine an unusual creature, believed to be of extraterrestrial origin. Its appearance inspires fear and fascination, and soon it reaches a cult status.
Tussen de prachtige landschappen ontdekken we verlaten gebouwen, als stille getuigen van vergane menselijke activiteit. We zijn in een vergeten stad in het midden van het Russische Oeralgebergte. Maar de mens heeft ook onzichtbare sporen nagelaten. De rivieren en meren in de wijde omtrek van deze verlaten stad en zijn zwaar radioactief vervuild. Bewoners van deze geïsoleerde regio spreken voor het eerst over deze eerste grote kernramp in de USSR, die in 1957 plaatsvond. De ramp moest koste wat het kost geheimgehouden worden. Het collectieve zwijgen deed heel wat mythes ontstaan. Zo werd een van de vele gemuteerde foetussen voor een gecrashte alien aanzien en kreeg zelfs een monument.
