A darkly poetic fairy tale about a lonely 10-year-old boy who thinks of himself as a modern-day Noah who will save the cockroaches - rejects of the animal world - when his town will be submerged.

synopsis

A lonely 10-year-old boy lives in a huge social apartment building. He collects giant cockroaches that he keeps on his boat on top of the building. He is obsessed by the greenhouse effect and thinks of himself as a modern-day Noah who will save the cockroaches - rejects of the animal world - when his town will be submerged. One day, he meets an old man who is rumoured to have been a captain. The boy desperately wants to become friends with the old man whereas he - an invalid who has outlived himself - wants to commit suicide by taking arsenic. The old man gets exasperated by the boy who keeps interrupting his suicide plans. He decides to try and introduce him to the little girl whom the boy doesn't dare to talk to... October Night is a darkly poetic fairy tale with both sad and funny moments.
