The title On Difference As Such refers to a text by Alain Badiou, in which he describes love, whether romantic or not, as 'a unique trust placed in chance'. The two filmmakers explore this idea.

The film shows two filmmakers who attempt to portray each other: a mutual gaze to narrow down the gap that divides two people. But love and its portrayal, even when it is mutual, is never equal. As the viewer follows the two women through landscapes and old buildings, a letter is being read to us which describes the experience of creating the images we see.
