Thomas Bogaert collected 200 postcards worldwide that people sent from a terrace on top of the spectacular Monte Brè, Switzerland. The result is an experimental and insightful film which brings the postcards back to life.

synopsis

A short film about a terrace on top of Monte Brè, Switzerland, a remarkable place that attracts people from all over the world to view the landscape: Monte San Salvatore in front, the Alps far away and below the beautiful Lugano Bay. Thomas Bogaert collected 200 postcards that people sent from here and used the front side as the handwritten text to start a nostalgic cinematic evocation. Then he travelled there himself to film the terrace and the landscape with his Nikon Super 8. This experimental and intuitive approach brings the postcards back to life.
Un court métrage sur une terrasse au sommet du Monte Brè, un endroit remarquable qui attire des gens du monde entier pour admirer le paysage, le Monte San Salvatore est en face, les Alpes au loin, en bàs la belle baie de Lugano. Thomas Bogaert collectionnait 200 cartes postales que les gens envoyaient d'ici au fil du temps. Il utilisait la face avant comme le texte manuscrit pour lancer une évocation cinématographique nostalgique. Puis il s'y est rendu lui-même pour filmer la terrasse, la baie et les montagnes avec son caméra Nikon Super 8. Le montage expérimental et intuitif ramène les cartes à la vie.
Een kortfilm over een terras op de top van Monte Brè, Zwitserland, een bijzondere plek waar mensen van over de hele wereld naartoe komen om het landschap te overschouwen. Je kijkt uit op de Monte San Salvatore, de Alpen in de verte, en beneden de baai van Lugano. Thomas Bogaert verzamelde 200 postkaarten van deze plek die doorheen de tijd van hieruit zijn verstuurd. Hij gebruikte zowel de voorkant als de handgeschreven tekst op de achterkant om een nostalgische filmische evocatie over deze plek te starten. Vervolgens reisde hij er zelf naartoe om er te filmen met zijn Nikon Super 8-camera. De experimentele en intuïtieve montage brengt de postkaarten tot leven.
