The subject of this Ô¨Ålm, 'Parque do Flamengo' in Rio de Janeiro, was designed by Roberto Burle Marx between 1954 and 1959 and Ô¨Ånally completed in 1965. Burle Marx (1909-1994) was, in addition to being a painter, singer, sculptor and ecologist, the most extraordinary landscape architect of the 20th century and is considered responsible for introducing modernist landscape architecture to Brazil.
