Un bar pour marins dans une petite ville portuaire. Hilde travaille derrière le comptoir et gagne juste assez pour s’assumer elle et son jeune fils. Peu après la naissance de l’enfant, le père l’abandonna pour entamer une vie de voyageur. Elle trouve du réconfort auprès de Guy et de son amie Anna. Lorsque Paul refait soudainement surface, les vieilles blessures sont ré ouvertes sous les yeux de l’enfant.
