synopsis

Skunk follows Liam, a neglected teen who is taken away from his parents’ home, where substance abuse and violence reign. He has trouble starting again in a closed youth facility, as the bullying is even worse than at his old school. And although Liam finds solace with a new friend and the social workers, when he revisits old traumas during counselling, his past comes back to haunt him.
Liam, un adolescent négligé qui grandit dans une famille où la drogue et la violence jouent un rôle prépondérant. Son domicile destructeur est bientôt remplacé par une institution pour mineurs qui a ses propres règles et ses propres abus. Bien qu’il trouve du réconfort auprès de ses conseillers, le passé continue de le hanter....
Skunk vertelt het verhaal van Liam, een verwaarloosde tiener die wordt weggehaald bij zijn ouders waar alcohol, geweld en seks de hoofdrol spelen. Zijn school wordt ingeruild voor een gesloten jeugdinstelling waar hij nog harder gepest wordt. Aanvankelijk vindt hij troost bij een nieuwe vriend en de maatschappelijk werkers van de instelling. Maar zijn verleden blijft hem achtervolgen wanneer hij door zijn therapeutische sessies oude trauma’s herbeleeft.
