synopsis

Four musicians embark on a road trip through Israel and the Palestinian Territories to explore the role of music in the conflict zones, which will take them to the borders of three continents.
In Soundtrack trekken vier muzikanten door Israël en de Palestijnse gebieden, op zoek naar de rol die muziek speelt in dit eeuwige conflictgebied. Een muzikale roadtrip op het raakpunt van drie continenten. Johannes Verschaeve (van jets), Dijf Sanders (teddiedrum), Eva De Roovere en Jason Dousselaere (teddiedrum) zijn onze muzikanten met een missie: uitzoeken wat muziek doet met de bewoners van Het Beloofde Land. Jason leert Palestijnse vrouwen Bob Dylan zingen, Johannes zorgt voor een vleugje Pulp Fiction in een joods orthodox dorp. Eva haalt haar klarinet boven bij Palestijnse straatjongeren. En Dijf, die samplet alles wat hij op zijn weg tegenkomt. Van klezmermuziek tot Allah Akbar. Overal komt het viertal in contact met muzikanten die met hun muziek een doel voor ogen hebben. Ze proberen hun ziel te doorgronden, dringen binnen in hun leven en spelen met hen samen. Het is een confrontatie met een andere cultuur, maar ook met zichzelf en met hun eigen vooroordelen. Een confrontatie waarbij de emoties soms hoog oplaaien. Die emoties zetten de vier muzikanten aan om zelf muziek te maken. Al reizend componeren ze zo de soundtrack voor hun eigen roadmovie. Een magnum opus over de Muur, een maïsveld en veel viswijven.
