The first Philippe Geubels TV show for één is a unique mix of human interest and comedy, trying to blow some fresh air into ponderous themes and connecting people through humour.

synopsis

In Taboo, Flemish comedy darling Philippe Geubels laughs about people you really shouldn't laugh with. But he does not pull that trick without a proper investigation. There is a common saying that you can only get to know someone if you've travelled together. In Taboo, that is exactly what Philippe Geubels does. He invites four guests for a week's holiday in a lovely country house in West Flanders. He spends time with people who are incurably ill, are physically challenged, people with visual disability, people suffering from obesity, people in poverty, LGBT's, people with different skin colour, and people with a psychic vulnerability. He listens to their stories and sensitivities and he gets to know their personalities while sightseeing through the countryside. But that's not all of it. Humour prevails in Taboo. Philippe challenges his guests to hit the streets in some hilarious candid camera scenes.
In Taboe lacht Philippe Geubels met mensen waar je eigenlijk niet om mag lachen. Maar dat doet hij uiteraard niet zonder uitgebreid vooronderzoek. Onder het motto “je leert elkaar het beste kennen op vakantie” nodigt Philippe elke week een viertal gasten uit in zijn vakantiehuis in Westouter: mensen met een ongeneeslijke ziekte of met een fysieke beperking, blinde en slechtziende mensen, mensen met obesitas, mensen in armoede, holebi’s, mensen met een andere huidskleur of met een psychische kwetsbaarheid. Hij luistert naar hun verhalen en gevoeligheden, verkent samen met hen de wijde omgeving en leert hen vooral echt goed kennen. Daar blijft het niet bij: ook humor is een belangrijk deel van Taboe. Zo daagt Philippe zijn gasten uit om tijdens hun vakantieweek zelf de straat op te trekken met een verborgen camera, wat tot bijzonder geestige situaties leidt. En verder doet Philippe in Taboe wat hij het beste kan: grappen maken. Hij brengt een comedy-set over het bewuste thema met zijn nieuwe vrienden prominent op de eerste rij van een zaal vol lotgenoten. Al deze ingrediënten samen leveren Taboe op.
