A sculpturer is fighting his final battle against death on his houseboat on the frozen Schelde river. Two women are at his side: his first wife, who he is divorced from, and his second wife. The latter is most concerned about his death as she realises that in the end the only result will be irrevocable loneliness. She wants to postpone the fatal moment and therefore tries to find comfort in her reminiscences from the times when she was happy with him. A story about fidelity till after death.
Un sculpteur mène un combat final contre la mort dans sa péniche sur l’Escaut gelée. Deux femmes se trouvent à ses côtés : sa première femme, de laquelle il est divorcé, et sa seconde femme. Cette dernière est la plus concernée par sa mort car elle se rend compte qu’il en résultera une solitude irrévocable. Elle cherche à postposer le moment fatidique et essaie dès lors de se conforter dans ses souvenirs du temps où ils étaient heureux tous les deux. Une histoire sur la fidélité qui dure jusqu’après la mort.
