synopsis

When Rex is tricked into leaving the palace by his friend Charlie, he winds up in a tough London Dogs' Home. Here he discovers that he is no longer Top Dog. He meets a sassy stray, Wanda, and falls madly in love. But she is the girlfriend of pound Top Dog, pitbull Tyson! A jealous Tyson volunteers Rex for 'Fight Club', pitching him against champion Boxer, Butch. Wanda is forced to save the little corgi by raising the alarm. Rex leads a rebellion against Tyson to overcome the bully and he and Wanda escape from the dogs home and head back to the palace together. But things at the palace are about to change...
Rex is de lievelingshond van de koningin van Engeland. Hij leidt een luxeleven in het paleis van Buckingham.
Wanneer Rex door zijn vriend Charlie misleidt wordt om het paleis te verlaten, komt hij in een hondenasiel terecht. Rex ontdekt dat hij niet langer het alfamannetje is. Hij ontmoet de straathond Wanda en wordt hopeloos verliefd. Wanda is gecharmeerd door het zotte hondje, maar is het liefje van het alfamannetje van het asiel, de pitbull Tyson. De jaloerse Tyson geeft Rex op als vrijwilliger voor de vechtclub, voor een gevecht met de kampioen van het asiel Butch. Om Rex te kunnen redden, laat Wanda het alarm afgaan. Tyson beseft dat hij verraden is en zint op wraak.
Rex leert dat hij zich moet opofferen voor anderen. Hij leidt een opstand tegen Tyson, waarna hij en Wanda uit het asiel ontsnappen. Zij gaan samen naar het paleis, maar Wanda maakt zich zorgen. In het paleis staat Charlie op het punt beloond te worden als het nieuwe alfamannetje van de koningin. Rex en Wanda eigenen zich een toegang tot het paleis toe om Charlie te confronteren met zijn acties, maar er ontstaat een brand. Ze raken ingesloten in de kamer van de Corgi’s. Zij moeten henzelf en de andere corgi’s redden waarna ze Charlie ontmaskeren in ware superhond-stijl. Op het einde van het verhaal laat hare Majesteit toe dat Wanda deel uitmaakt van de koninklijke familie.
