In the six-part documentary series The Election, journalist Diederik Van den Abeele explores the soul of Ninove and its people ahead of pivotal 2024 local elections. Political analysts predicted that Guy D’haeseleer, leader of the far-right Forza Ninove party, would win an absolute majority and become mayor. This scenario sparked fears of a potential revolution in Flanders with unpredictable consequences. The series questions whether these fears are justified, while highlighting growing public unrest over migration, a trend seen not only in Ninove, but across Flanders and Europe.
