The Good Hunt explores the life of David and Carlyn Petersen who settled in the mountains of southwest Colorado in search of a simple, independent life in tune with nature.

In 1981, David and Carolyn Petersen settled in the mountains of southwest Colorado in search of a simple, independent life in tune with nature. Following David during his annual elk hunt, the film traces their journey from the early years of poverty through the hardships they learned to weather. The Good Hunt focuses on Dave on what turns out to be perhaps the most difficult hunt he has ever experienced. Age will soon prevent him from hunting, cutting wood and shovelling the waist-deep snow in winter. Can he push that day forward or will this be his last hunt?
