The Seagull relives the life of a sea captain's wife, distanced from her partner by a vast ocean. Through her thought-provoking diary, read for the first time by her now-adult daughter, the film is a poetic and melancholic reflection, touched by melancholy and nostalgia.
La mouette herbeleeft het leven van een kapiteinsvrouw, ver weg van haar geliefde, gescheiden door een weidse oceaan. Haar intieme en tot nadenken stemmende dagboek, dat voor het eerst gelezen wordt door haar inmiddels volwassen dochter, schetst een tijdslijn van gebeurtenissen in haar leven, beroerd door melancholie en nostalgie.
