One evening in the Belgian Congo, a white hostess tries to start a conversation about racism.

synopsis

When Congolese assistant Fabrice is invited to a dinner with a white family, the race laws of the Belgian Congo are broken. In the privacy of this tropical bungalow, hostess Eva sees an opportunity to have an honest conversation about the apartheid system. She challenges her guests to a historical experiment, with a focus on the role imposed on Flemish women and the Congolese in Belgium’s colonial project.
In Belgisch-Congo worden rassenwetten gebroken wanneer de Congolese assistent Fabrice wordt uitgenodigd voor een avondmaal met enkel witte colons. Gastvrouw Eva ziet de kans om achter de gesloten muren van de Tropical Bungalow een eerlijk gesprek over het apartheidssysteem te voeren. Ze daagt het gezelschap uit voor een historisch experiment met de focus op de opgelegde rol voor de Vlaamse vrouw en de Congolezen in het koloniale project.
