The walls of Brussels neighbourhood reflect a community’s reaction to a violent death involving the police.

On April 10th 2020, a 19-year-old boy is killed in a car accident with the police. His name, Adil, is on almost every wall in Brussels. As the inhabitants of the city move past these walls, as time passes and the city changes, his name remains there statically, waiting for justice. Walls That Scream is about walls that witness police violence. Walls in a forgotten neighbourhood that make something visible. Walls that stand in the way of forgetting.
Op alle muren in Kuregem staat zijn naam geschreven: Adil. Terwijl zijn naam daar evenzo statisch als vergankelijk op de muren staat geverfd, raast het leven erlangs - wielrenners de ene richting uit, auto’s de andere. De tijd schrijdt voort. Les murs qui crient gaat over muren die getuige zijn van politiegeweld. Terwijl de inwoners van de wijk zich een weg banen door de sporen van een specifieke herinnering, begint de ruimte op zichzelf te leven.
