synopsis

In the non-places of this world lie the struggles of nobodies. To improve, overcome and survive, they are suffocated by their struggles which dislocate them, bring them together and pull them apart. A father and son share simple dreams and a lifetime on the road. Along an unromantic silk route they try to make these dreams come true. As working class heroes they accept their fate. Even when surrounded by corruption, how does one retain one's integrity? We're Going the Same Way examines the added value of honesty in our actions.
Op de non-plaatsen van deze wereld strijden de vergetenen. Om te verbeteren, te overwinnen en te overleven. Deze strijd verstikt hen, waardoor ze vergeten te leven. Hij ontwricht hen, brengt hen bij elkaar en trekt hen vervolgens terug uit elkaar. Een vader en zijn zoon hebben beiden eenvoudige, alledaagse dromen. Ze spenderen hun leven samen langs de desolate Zijderoute in de hoop deze dromen ooit uit te laten komen. Maar in de zoektocht naar een meer leefbare toekomst scheiden hun wegen. Als echte 'working class heroes' accepteren ze uiteindelijk hun lot. Hoe behoudt iemand zijn integriteit wanneer hij omringd wordt door corruptie? We're Going the Same Way onderzoekt de toegevoegde waarde van eerlijkheid in onze handelingen.
