Fleeing a family gathering, thirtysomething Babette finds herself in a store that claims to stock everything.

synopsis

Amid the chaos of a family gathering, 35-year-old Babette faces a mountain of questions about her job, her love life and her future. Doubting herself, Babette tries to escape for a cigarette on the terrace. When her lighter turns out to be empty, she goes out to buy a new one and stumbles upon a store that claims to have “everything”. The aisles carry an infinite array of products that become more and more absurd, reflecting Babette’s tangled thoughts. When she tries to leave, the aisles collapse and Babette gets knocked out cold by the products. She is transported back to the family gathering, where she shares a brief moment of connection, reflection and peace with her grandmother.
Au milieu du chaos d’une fête de famille, Babette (35 ans) est submergée par des questions sur son travail, sa vie amoureuse et son avenir. Tourmentée par l’incertitude, elle tente de s’échapper pour fumer une cigarette sur la terrasse. Lorsque son briquet se révèle vide, elle sort en acheter un nouveau et tombe sur un magasin qui prétend « tout » avoir. Les rayons regorgent d’une infinité de produits de plus en plus absurdes, reflétant les pensées confuses de Babette. En essayant de fuir, les rayons s’effondrent et Babette succombe sous les produits. Elle revient à la fête, où elle partage un bref moment de connexion et de calme avec sa grand-mère.
Te midden van de chaos van een familiefeest wordt Babette (35) overspoeld met vragen over haar werk, haar liefdesleven en haar toekomst. Geplaagd door onzekerheid probeert ze te ontsnappen voor een sigaret op het terras. Wanneer haar aansteker leeg blijkt te zijn, gaat ze er op uit om een nieuwe te kopen en stuit ze op een winkel die beweert ‘alles’ te hebben. De gangen staan vol met een oneindige reeks producten die steeds absurder worden en Babette’s verwarde gedachten weerspiegelen. Tijdens een poging om te ontsnappen storten de gangen in en bezwijkt Babette onder de producten. Ze keert terug naar het feest, waar ze een kort moment van verbinding en rust deelt met haar grootmoeder.
