Over one day, this documentary movie explores the human being in the last stage of his life. With the longing for bygone times, we become absorbed in a world where the clock has stopped. We see the struggle with loss, sorrow and loneliness. Insanity and death are on the doorstep. How do we react to this as human beings? Is there resignation or do we cling to an illusion that vanishes like sand in our hands? The film is, without being any accusation or social statement, a subjective mirror of the filmmakers. It is an effort to come to grips with the unavoidable reality and the ruthlessness of it.
In deze documentaire laten we ons een dag lang meevoeren met de mens in zijn laatste levensfase. We worden opgenomen in een stilstaande wereld, hunkerend naar een vervlogen tijd. We zien de worsteling met verlies, verdriet en eenzaamheid. Waanzin en dood staan permanent klaar. Toekomst is een stervend begrip. Hoe gaan we hier als mens mee om? Is er berusting of klampen we ons vast aan een illusie die als zand door onze vingers glijdt? De film is een subjectieve spiegel van de makers, maar zonder aanklacht of maatschappelijk statement. Het is een poging de onvermijdelijke werkelijkheid in zijn meedogenloosheid te vatten.
