Controversial neurologist Steven Laureys is trying to unlock one of the last great mysteries in science in order to help the comatose people that are brought into his care.

synopsis

Neurologist Steven Laureys heads the multidisciplinary team of the Coma Science Group in Liège, trying to unravel some of the mysteries that surround human consciousness. Is there a theory that explains the essence of consciousness? Or is consciousness itself just an illusion? How is it that we can think, feel, love? Laureys explores these questions by studying people with an exceptional brain: be it those who are locked in their own body, people who’ve had a near-death experience, champion free divers or Tibetan monks. Is their's a life worth living?
