The story of two 40-year-olds whose friendship and fellow feeling are put to the test when they encounter a boat full of refugees during a sea fishing trip.

synopsis

Thomas, who is entangled in a break-up, is invited by Louis to join a sea fishing trip. But he gets little support from his friend. In mid-ocean, they encounter seven refugees whose boat has developed engine trouble, putting Louis in a dilemma and disturbing the dynamic between the two differently minded friends. Louis fixes the engine, but with bad weather forecast he strongly advises against continuing the crossing. His advice is ignored, both by the refugees and by Thomas.
Thomas, die net uit een scheiding komt, is uitgenodigd door Louis om mee te gaan zeevissen, maar vindt weinig mentale steun bij zijn alles relativerende vriend.
Midden op zee treffen ze zeven bootvluchtelingen met motorpech aan, waardoor Louis voor een dilemma komt te staan en de dynamiek tussen de twee anders denkende vrienden helemaal troebleert. Louis lost het motorprobleem op, maar raadt omwille van de weersverwachting de overtocht ten zeerste af, hetgeen zowel door de vluchtelingen als Thomas wordt genegeerd...
