Geoffrey Enthoven’s The Over the Hill Band in which three female septuagenarians set up an R&B band is selected to be part of the LA Week of French Language Cinema (19 – 24 March).
Directed by Geoffrey Enthoven from a script by Jean-Claude van Rijckeghem (Moscow, Belgium) and Chris Craps (Crusade in Jeans), the story follows Claire (Marilou Mermans), a 70-year-old woman coping with the onset of senility in the wake of her husband's death. While her supportive married son Michel (Lucas van den Eijnde) manages Claire's bank account and her increasing medical needs, his thuggish brother Sid (Jan Van Looveren), the black sheep of the family, buries himself in alcoholism and a failed music career.
Geoffrey Enthoven’s The Over the Hill Band opened in New York on Friday. The film, starring Marilou Mermans, Lut Tomsin, Lea Couzin and Jan Van Looveren, premiered in the city’s East Village theatre and will open in other key US cities as of 3 March. Distributor is Neo Classics.
