EN - A brutal robbery goes hopelessly wrong. Dave, one of the two robbers, manages to run off leaving his brother Kenneth behind. Four years later, Kenneth is released from prison and much has changed. Dave has his life back on track and is trying to help Kenneth wherever possible, but is witnessing how his highly-strung brother tries to win back his ex-girlfriend Sylvie.

Variety marks Robin Pront as European to Watch

Variety has named Belgian director Robin Pront as one of its 10 ‘Europeans to Watch’. As in previous years, the trade magazine has highlighted 10 talents from across the continent who are poised for a breakthrough in 2017. The group will be feted at the upcoming Berlin International Film Festival.

Robin ProntThe director attracted critical attention with his short film Plan B about the drug scene in Antwerp, as well as the well-received crime drama The Ardennes, his debut feature which premiered at the 2015 Toronto Film Festival and represented Belgium at the Oscars.

The Ardennes wins big at Ensor Awards

Robin Pront’s The Ardennes, this year’s Foreign Language Academy Award® entry for Belgium, grabbed seven kudos, including Best Picture, at this year’s Ensors, the local Oscar equivalents.

The ArdennesBesides Best Picture, The Ardennes also won Best Screenplay (for Jeroen Perceval and Robin Pront), Best Actor (Kevin Janssens), Best Supporting Actor (Jan Bijvoet), Best Photography (Robrecht Heyvaert), Best Costumes (Catherine Van Bree) and Best Art Direction (Geert Paredis). The film also took home the much coveted Industry Award.

The Ardennes to represent Belgium in Academy Awards® race

Robin Pront's The Ardennes is to represent Belgium this year as the official submission for the Academy Award® for Best Foreign Language Film. Starring Veerle Baetens (The Broken Circle Breakdown), Jeroen Perceval (Bullhead) and Kevin Janssens, the film is produced by Savage Film's Bart Van Langendonck who produced Michaël R. Roskam's 2012 Oscar® nominated Bullhead. Roskam is associate producer.

The ArdennesThe Ardennes received its world première as part of the Discovery programme at last year's Toronto International Film Festival. Last week it was announced that the film also features on the shortlist for the European Film Awards.

The Ardennes takes the Flesh Blood Award in Beaune

The feature debut of Robin Pront, The Ardennes, has won the Fresh Blood Prize (Prix Sang Neuf) at the eight edition of the International Thriller Film Festival in Beaune, France (30 March – 3 April). Director Robin Pront was on hand to accept the award in Beaune, which comes just before the French release of the film on April 13 by distributor Diaphana.

The Ardennes“It’s extraordinary that a Flemish director is winning prizes as a new talent with his first film,” says The Ardennes producer Bart Van Langendonck. “Beaune is an important festival for genre films and this prize for The Ardennes endorses the positive reactions in the French press.”

Cleveland takes four from Flanders

The Ardennes, Brother, Paradise Trips and Café Derby have all been selected for the International Film Festival in Cleveland (30 March-10 April). The Flemish quartet will appear in the World Tour section, which introduces a variety of international hits from more than 70 countries. Schneider vs. Bax by Alex van Warmerdam, a co-production with Flanders, is also included in the programme.

The ArdennesFollowing recent announcements that The Ardennes will be theatrically released in the US, Robin Pront’s debut feature gets a test-run in front of an American audience during the International Film Festival of Cleveland.
