Linda & Ali portrays the family life of Linda Fain, an American woman, and Ali Al Saigel, a Muslim Qatari. Linda and Ali met 20 years ago in Linda’s home town in Arizona where Ali was studying at the local university. The documentary portrays Linda and Ali raising their seven children in a traditional Islamic way while dealing with a midlife crisis. While Ali tries to escape from his responsibilities, Linda is focusing on keeping the family together. The daily life clashes of the Al Saigel household are sometimes caused by cultural differences between east and west, sometimes by differences between man and woman. Linda & Ali was shot over a period of two years, starting right before the invasion of Iraq.
