EN - The film draws a probing picture of the life and problems of the Mennonites in Northwest Mexico a religious movement with Dutch roots, that rejects technological advancement and accompanying consumption-culture radically in an attempt to keep its traditions and religion as pure as possible. The central character is Neufeld who leads us through his personal and family life into the strict culture and realm of thoughts of the Mennonites. Soon this unaffected, rural culture proves to hide internal conflicts. Some import electricity and cars in order to lower costs and young people have difficulty adjusting. Neufeld and his family decide to sell their belongings, leave the camp and build a new existence in Campeche. Not all that the world does is good for a Mennonite tells, in extraordinary images, a poetic yet realistic story. A voyage that leads to an insoluble dilemma between tradition and progress, between God and the world, between consistency and willingness to compromise.
