synopsis

When Nigerian sisters Happy and Charity arrive in Europe they are picked up by the right-hand man of Mrs Dolores, the madam for whom they will work as prostitutes. The sisters are assigned a room in an apartment shared with three other women, who look on the newcomers with suspicion and contempt. But a sense of solidarity gradually emerges. With humour, resilience and song, they endure the exploitation and the many humiliations they face. Until one day it becomes too much for them, and they revolt, singing their anger from the rooftops.
De Nigeriaanse zussen Happy en Charity komen toe Europa. Ze worden opgehaald door de rechterhand van mevrouw Dolores, de hoerenmadam voor wie ze gaan werken. De zussen krijgen een kamer toegewezen in een appartement waar nog drie andere vrouwen wonen. Eerst kijken de drie vrouwen met argwaan en minachting naar de nieuwkomers. Er ontstaat echter geleidelijk een gevoel van solidariteit onder de vrouwen. Met humor, veerkracht en zang doorstaan ze de uitbuiting en de vele vernederingen van hun lot. Tot het hen op een dag te veel wordt en ze in opstand komen en hun woede van de daken zingen.
