In the latest instalment of the TV series Julien Baptiste finds himself in the criminal underworld of the red-light district of Amsterdam.

synopsis

Julien Baptiste is in Amsterdam searching for a missing sex worker. He delves into the criminal underworld of the red-light district and uncovers a complex web of deceit and lies.
Julien Baptiste verblijft in Amsterdam waar zijn dochter onlangs is bevallen. Hij loopt constant in hun weg en is rusteloos, maar wordt dan uitgenodigd voor een ontmoeting met een oude vlam, Martha Horchner, politiecommissaris in Amsterdam. Het wordt echter geen lunch om herinneringen aan vroeger op te halen. Martha wil zijn hulp bij het opsporen van een vermist meisje, Natalie, de nicht van de Engelse Edward Stratton. Ze gelooft dat de zaak gelinkt is aan een Roemeense bende die aan sex trafficking doet. Het meisje moet dringend gevonden worden.
Julien ontmoet Edward en ze beginnen aan hun zoektocht, maar algauw beseft Julien dat niet alles is wat het lijkt. Waarom wil niemand spreken over het vermiste meisje? Wie is de man die Juliens vrouw Celia volgt? Wat is het verband tussen de zaak en het transseksuele bordeel waarvan de eigenaar hen in de gaten laat houden? Wie is de geheimzinnige vrouw, Kim Vogel, die de sekswerkers helpt en hen vertelt dat Natalie naar Duitsland is gevlucht? Naarmate Julien de waarheid achter de leugens ontdekt, beseft hij dat de zaak heel anders in elkaar zit dan het lijkt. Tegen de tijd dat Baptiste zich bewust wordt van het gevaar waarin hij is meegesleept, is Juliens eigen gezin in levensgevaar en hijzelf in een val gelokt.
Baptiste is een zenuwslopende rit vol onverwachte wendingen waar niets of niemand meteen zijn geheimen prijsgeeft. Amsterdam is het decor, maar wat we zien is slechts een dun laagje vernis terwijl Julien Baptiste de nauwe steegjes, kelderverdiepingen en kanalen doorzoekt om de donkere kant van de beroemde rosse buurt bloot te leggen.
