synopsis

The story of two 18-year-old best friends who grew up together in the suburbs of Amsterdam: Dunya is Moroccan while Desie is as Dutch as cheese and tulips. On her 18th birthday, Dunya is told that she is expected to marry a second cousin from Morocco whom she will meet during the family's holiday. Desie, who has recently begun taking driving lessons, unexpectedly gets pregnant by her driving instructor who then breaks up with her. Desie decides to look for her biological father and, when it transpires that her father lives in Morocco, the girls decide to go together. But Morocco is not Amsterdam, and together they get entangled in a road trip that takes them from the big cities, through the deserts and into the mountains. Ultimately, they must make some important choices for themselves.
Ce film d’aventure plein de bonne humeur raconte l’histoire de deux meilleures amies de 18 ans ayant grandi ensemble dans la banlieue d’Amsterdam. Dunya est marocaine et a grandi avec le Ramadan, les imams et la Mecque. Dessie est aussi hollandaise que le fromage et les tulipes. A l’occasion de son 18ème anniversaire, Dunya apprend que sa famille voudrait la marier à un arrière-cousin marocain. Elle le rencontrera lors des vacances familiales au Maroc, mais l’idée ne la réjouit pas. Dessie, qui a récemment commencé des cours de conduite, tombe subitement enceinte de son instructeur. Il rompt avec elle instantanément et considère qu’il revient à Dessie de résoudre le problème. Dessie veut retrouver son père biologique. Lorsqu’il s’avère que son père vit au Maroc, Dunya et Dessie décident de partir ensemble à sa recherche. Mais le Maroc n’est pas Amsterdam, et elles sont entraînées dans un voyage en voiture à travers le Maroc. Des grandes villes, à travers le désert, dans les montagnes, où elles se retrouvent dans des situations formidables et hilarantes. A la fin, elles doivent prendre des décisions importantes pour elles-mêmes.
