• Invisible Cities is inspired by the 1960-1970s metabolists' utopist movement. This cycle of films questions the notion of landscapes and brings together several portraits of Japanese towns (machinami): Tokyo, Yokohama, Kyoto, Osaka. 1960-1970s metabolists' utopist movement. This cycle of films questions the notion of landscapes and brings together several portraits of Japanese towns (machinami): Tokyo, Yokohama, Kyoto, Osaka. It resembles what is called 'augmented reality' as it combines digital 3D or 2D images with images of social and urban reality, filmed or photographed.Showing Tokyo through hybrid plastic shapes results from the choice of using the very technological tools that constitute it with the goal to recreate it, to see it evolve. An eclectic city - a city that is a laboratory where architecture and urbanism are in perpetual evolution - means a dialogue between reality and fiction will be necessary. Digital techniques used to create this project are based on the hybridization of photographic, filmed or computer-generated images.
• Tokyo, een stad die op het einde van de 19de eeuw wemelde van de westerse invloeden, beleefde eind 20ste eeuw een snelle evolutie. Zij groeide zelf uit tot een iconisch prototype van de wereldstad van de toekomst. Wat deze stad kenmerkt is de afwezigheid van een transcendentale orde, de vaststelling dat chaos bestaat, en een reticulaire en fragmentarische stadsontwikkeling. Tokyo wordt ook gekenmerkt door de snelheid waarmee de stad transformeert. Eens de nacht valt heeft de megapolis de neiging te verdwijnen achter de overvloed aan stedelijke verlichting en reclametekens, en wordt zij een geheel van lichtpunten die veel weg hebben van de ‘kanji’, logogrammen die een deel van het Japanse schrift vormen.
  Invisible Cities is het portret van een eclectische stad, een laboratorium waar architectuur en stadsontwikkeling voortdurend volop in beweging zijn, en waar de ware inzet de dialoog tussen werkelijkheid en fictie is.
