In 2008, Sarajevo-born but Holland-based director Sergej Kreso goes on the road with Congolese-Belgian musician Jack Roskam through Croatia, Bosnia and Serbia to meet the former members of his band Galija for the first time since the Balkan war.

synopsis

In 1972, a dart on a map of Europe changes the life of Congolese-Belgian musician Jack Roskam: he moves to Croatia, then part of Yugoslavia. After a career as a guitar player in well-known local band Galija, he is confronted with the Balkan war. While his colleagues start to sing politically-oriented Serbian songs, Jack decides to defend the Croatian community which adopted him, and exchanges his Fender guitar for a Kalashnikov. En 1972, une fléchette sur la carte de l’Europe change la vie du musicien Belgo-Congolais Jack Roskam: il part en Croatie, qui à l’époque faisait partie de la Yougoslavie. Après une carrière en tant que guitariste dans un groupe local assez connu, Galija, il doit faire face à la guerre des Balkans. Alors que ses collègues commencent à chanter des chansons politiquement engagées pour soutenir le côté serbe, Jack décide de défendre la communauté croate qui l’a adopté.
