A Hazara family from Afghanistan seeks justice after the death of their daughter at Kabul University.

synopsis

Freshta and her family are Hazaras, a people from central Afghanistan who have suffered centuries of state persecution and genocide. Freshta's elder sister, Zahra, committed suicide a few weeks before her graduation from Kabul University, after her thesis research on the local plant Kamay was rejected several times by her professor. We follow the family's struggle for justice, guided by questions the grieving Freshta asks herself about her sister.
Freshta en haar familie zijn Hazara's, een volk uit Centraal-Afghanistan dat al eeuwenlang lijdt onder vervolging door de staat en genocide. Freshta’s oudere zus, Zahra, pleegde zelfmoord een paar weken voor haar afstuderen aan de Universiteit van Kaboel, nadat haar scriptie-onderzoek over de lokale plant ‘Kamay’ verschillende keren werd afgewezen door haar professor. Begeleid door de woorden en vragen die de rouwende Freshta zich stelt over haar zus, volgen we de strijd van de familie voor gerechtigheid.
