A Czech politician has proclaimed himself president of Liberland, a freedom-loving micro-nation in the middle of the Danube, between Serbia and Croatia. But what are his real motives?

synopsis

On the border between Serbia and Croatia, where the bloody Yugoslav War still resonates, there is a heap of sand in the Danube that someone wants to turn into a new nation. In 2015, Liberland was founded by a Czech politician who claims to have planted his flag in this no man's land. As the first president of Liberland, he tries to shape his country. Is he an idealist, or does he have other, less altruistic goals?
Op de grens tussen Servië en Kroatië, een regio waar de Joegoslavische burgeroorlog nog steeds nazindert, ligt een klein stukje niemandsland aan de oever van de statige Donau. Op deze schijnbaar onherbergzame zandbank wil een Tsjechisch politicus een nieuwe micro-natie oprichten: Liberland. Maar wordt het planten van deze nieuwe nationale vlag wel door iedereen even wel gesmaakt?
