synopsis

When photographer Mekhar Kiyoso is in the Africa Museum for a shoot he becomes unsettled as the views through his lens reveal the macabre museum as a mausoleum of his cultural heritage. As he's being possessed by the artefacts, he remembers being alienated from them. Lobi Kuna (which in Lingala means 'the day after tomorrow' as well as 'the day before yesterday') tells the story of his appropriation of the past in order to project himself into a future.
Le photographe Mekhar Kiyoso travaille dans le musée d’Afrique pour un shooting photo. Son regard est aussitôt perturbé lorsqu'il aperçoit à travers son objectif un musée macabre, tel un mausolée de son héritage culturel. Possédé par les objets du musée, il se souvient d'être aliéné par ces artefacts. Lobi Kuna (qui en lingala signifie aussi bien après-demain qu’avant-hier) raconte l'histoire de son appropriation du passé, pour se projeter dans le futur, au cours des rénovations du Musée Royal de l'Afrique Centrale à Tervuren.
Fotograaf Mekhar Kiyoso is in het Afrikamuseum voor een doordeweekse shoot. Zijn blik wordt algauw ontregeld wanneer hij doorheen zijn lens het macabere museum bekijkt als mausoleum voor cultureel erfgoed. Gaandeweg raakt hij bezeten door het thema en zijn herinneringen vertellen hem hoe hij van zijn erfenis werd afgesneden. Lobi Kuna (wat in het Lingala zowel overmorgen als eergisteren betekent) is het verhaal van de toe-eigening van het verleden om een toekomst te kunnen projecteren, en dit terwijl het Koninklijk Museum voor Midden-Afrika in Tervuren tijdens de renovaties een metamorfose ondergaat.
