You either love them or you hate them. Mussels in Love is the ultimate film about the life and food of this strange shellfish.

Mussels can provide humanity to many things as, among others, gynaecologist Jan will attest to as he uses the glue that mussels produce to save unborn babies. At the same time, we also meet both biologists and cooks who, in their own ways, deal with mussels in their everyday lives - from when they are born at the bottom of the sea to when they end up on our plates, in an aquarium or a laboratory.
Les belges, le chef Sergio Herman et l’éleveur Henk ainsi que beaucoup d’autres l’attendent avec impatience : le début de la saison des moules. Mais comment ce crustacé arrive-t-il dans nos assiettes ? Et pourquoi l’aimons-nous autant ? D’une manière à la fois festive et intime, le film met en lumière la vie des moules de Zélande. Nous suivons tout leur cycle de vie.

Maar hoe komt dit schelpdiertje eigenlijk op ons bord terecht? En waarom is deze zo geliefd? Op sfeervolle en intieme wijze wordt het leven van de Zeeuwse mossel belicht. We zien de hele levenscyclus: de mossel die bemint, de mossel die naarstig houvast zoekt en de mossel die wordt losgerukt door de storm. Onderweg komt de mossel gepassioneerde liefhebbers tegen die ook verliefd worden, strijden en overleven.
