Bo and her best friend Luca, both 13 years old, live in the same street and are facing a man-made climate disaster of global scale. As they grow up, they engage in a fight for their future.

synopsis

Thirteen-year-old Bo grows up in a protected environment where everything seems possible, but she is frightened by the dark predictions of the future. Together with her friend Luca, she decides to take up the fight against climate change, and they join Extinction Rebellion. They occupy factory sites and highways; they are arrested and criticised. But what are politicians doing? Why does all this take so long? As Luca proposes increasingly radical actions, the more thoughtful Bo wants to find her own way. Planet B is a coming-of-age story about two youngsters exploring how to grow up in a world destroying itself.
De dertienjarige Bo groeit op in een beschermde omgeving waar alles mogelijk lijkt, maar ze is bezorgd over de duistere toekomstvoorspellingen. Samen met haar boezemvriend Luca besluit ze de strijd aan te gaan tegen klimaatverandering en ze sluiten zich aan bij Extinction Rebellion. Ze bezetten fabrieksterreinen en snelwegen, ze worden gearresteerd en bekritiseerd. Maar wat doen politici? Waarom duurt het allemaal zo lang? Terwijl Luca steeds radicalere acties voorstelt, wil de meer bedachtzame Bo haar eigen weg vinden. Planeet B is een coming-of-age-verhaal van twee jongeren die onderzoeken hoe op te groeien in een wereld die zichzelf vernietigt.
