The story of the love affair between a Dutch mother of four and a coloured man 17 years her younger.

Sonny Boy is based on a true story about the love affair between two ordinary people: Rika, a typical Dutch mother of four, and a coloured man from Surinam called Waldemar who is 17 years younger. Their love survives all the presumptions and obstructions of an often cruel world, but is finally unable to survive the brutal and devastating power of war.
Sonny Boy raconte l’histoire d’amour exceptionnelle entre deux êtres à première vue ordinaires: Rika, une mère hollandaise typique de quatre enfants et Waldemar, un homme du Surinam de 17 ans son cadet. Leur amour survit à toutes les prétentions et barrières du monde extérieur parfois cruel, mais ne pourra pas faire face au pouvoir dévastateur de la guerre.
