synopsis

Arriving in a new town with his father, gifted 11-year-old Jim has to participate in a young scientist competition with Emma, a new classmate. Jim convinces her to build a real hot-air balloon, in secret. Pursuing his father’s dream of going to space, Jim drags Emma into an adventure that brings them closer together.
Arrivé dans une nouvelle ville avec son père, Jim, un garçon surdoué de 11 ans doit participer à un concours de jeunes scientifiques avec sa nouvelle camarade de classe Emma. Jim la convainc de construire secrètement une vraie montgolfière. Poursuivant le rêve de son père d'aller dans l'espace, Jim l'entraîne dans une aventure qui va les rapprocher.
De slimme Jim is 11 jaar oud en woont bij zijn papa, een astronaut die binnenkort naar de ruimte gaat. Tijdens een wedstrijd voor jonge wetenschappers krijgt hij zijn mysterieuze klasgenote Emma als partner toegewezen. Jim trekt zijn stoute schoenen aan en overtuigt haar om in het geheim een echte luchtballon te bouwen. Maar dan komt hij erachter dat zijn vader tegen hem heeft gelogen en zijn ruimtemissie heeft opgegeven. Jim besluit om aan zijn vader te bewijzen dat je niet zomaar je dromen laat varen. Samen met Emma doet hij er alles aan om zijn doel te bereiken in een waanzinnig avontuur dat hen steeds dichter bij elkaar brengt.
