synopsis

In Tales from the Source the landscape of the Democratic Republic of Congo is presented as a character, a living entity, inhabited by the symbolism of Congolese traditions. The visual approach borrows techniques from multispectral imaging, resulting in an otherworldly experience of surreal lights and colours. Combined with an original musical composition by Bear Bones, Lay Low, we enter into a sensory dialogue with the landscape, an intelligent, ageless being in constant transformation that challenges our perception.
Tales from the Source propose un regard sur le paysage de la République Démocratique du Congo, inspiré par la diversité et richesse de ses cultures et traditions, et imprégné d'un sentiment de puissance insondable. Le paysage devient un personnage, une entité vivante et habitée par le symbolisme des traditions congolaises. L‘approche visuelle emprunte aux techniques d‘imagerie multispectrale pour proposer l‘expérience d'un monde aux lumières improbables et aux couleurs surréalistes. Accompagné par une composition musicale originale, le film défie notre perception en nous plongeant dans un dialogue sensoriel avec le paysage, un être intelligent, éternel et en constante transformation.
Tales from the Source biedt een blik op het landschap van de Democratische Republiek Congo. Met surrealistische kleuren, onwerkelijk licht en een eigenzinnige soundtrack daagt de film onze perceptie uit. Het landschap wordt een personage, een levend wezen bewoond door de symboliek van de Congolese tradities. Tales from the Source dompelt ons onder in een zintuiglijke dialoog met het landschap; een intelligent, eeuwig en voortdurend transformerend wezen.
