synopsis

On the death of his mother, a director makes a film to see how much her disappearance has changed his vision of the world. It is an opportunity for him to look back over his relationship with her: a relationship that made him an individual, a man and a filmmaker. The Second Night is the final part of a trilogy that began with Letter From a Filmmaker to his Daughter, which was followed by Dreaming Films. The making of this 'Cabin Trilogy' is the fruit of 15 years of work and reflection.
À la mort de sa mère, un cinéaste réalise un film pour voir à quel point cette disparition a changé sa vision du monde. C’est l’occasion pour lui de revenir sur la relation qu’il a entretenue avec elle : une relation qui a fait de lui un individu libre, en tant qu’homme et en tant que cinéaste. La deuxième nuit est l’aboutissement d’une trilogie inaugurée par Lettre d’un cinéaste à sa fille et continuée par Les films rêvés. La réalisation de cette « Trilogie de la cabane » représente une quinzaine d’années de travail et de réflexion.
Bij de dood van zijn moeder draait een cineast een film om na te gaan in welke mate deze verdwijning zijn visie op de wereld heeft veranderd. Het is de gelegenheid om terug te komen op de relatie die hij met haar had: een relatie die van hem een vrij man heeft gemaakt, als mens en als cineast. De tweede nacht is het hoogtepunt van een trilogie die begon met Brief van een cineast aan zijn dochter en werd verdergezet met De gedroomde films. De realisatie van deze “Trilogie van de hut” vertegenwoordigt 15 jaar werk en bezinning.
