Gradually, as the trial gains momentum, it is not only Fri's fate that hangs in balance but also the lives of the jury members who are shaken to the core. Each person reacts based on his or her own personal scars and life experience...
De twaalf is een spannende, hedendaagse karakterreeks rond een volksjury in een assisenproces. Twaalf burgers worden opgeroepen als volksjury van een ophefmakende moordzaak. De twaalf hebben geen simpele taak. Ze beslissen over de schuld of onschuld van de gerespecteerde schooldirectrice Frie Palmers, die wordt beschuldigd van twee moorden. Het proces blijkt niet alleen bepalend voor het lot van Frie. Ook het leven van de juryleden neemt door de geruchtmakende moordzaak een hele nieuwe wending aan. Op de duur wordt de assisenzaak niet alleen het proces van de beschuldigde, maar ook dat van de juryleden zelf.
