In Jerusalem, a group of Jewish and Palestinian psychologists have found a way to solve the conflict. When they are refused permission to talk in front of the camera, Israeli and Palestinian actors step into their shoes. But playing the role of therapist confronts the actors with their own war inside.

synopsis

We talk about conflict always in terms of winners and losers, but ignore the psychological toll it can take on both sides. The War Inside focuses on questions that are taboo within Israeli and Palestinian society. The six main protagonists are a group of psychologists in Jerusalem who go to schools to talk to students and teachers. Instead of the battles that take place in front of the cameras, this film wants to shed a light on the war inside the minds of those involved, balancing on the delicate line between fiction and documentary. As for the actors playing their role - just like the psychologists - they share their own experiences.
We spreken altijd over conflicten in termen van winnaars en verliezers, maar negeren de psychologische tol die deze aan beide zijden eist. The War Inside richt zich op vragen die binnen de Israëlische en Palestijnse samenleving taboe zijn. De zes hoofdrolspelers maken deel uit van een groep psychologen die in Jerusalem naar scholen gaan om met leerlingen te praten. In plaats van het gevecht dat voor de camera plaatsvinden, werpt deze film een licht op de oorlog in de hoofden van de betrokkenen, balancerend op de lijn tussen fictie en documentaire. Want voor de acteurs die hun rol spelen - net zoals voor de psychologen - is het niet altijd gemakkelijk om openlijk over deze kwesties te praten.
