synopsis

On naît, On meurt begins with Gilbert’s diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a rare, terminal neurodegenerative disorder, and culminates with the heartbreaking moment of his passing. In an attempt to transform her grief into new life, his daughter Sarah decides to freeze her eggs, hoping to continue the cycle of life, death and rebirth.
On naît, On meurt is een diep persoonlijk portret van de band tussen Sarah en haar vader Gilbert. De film begint wanneer Gilbert de diagnose ALS krijgt en bereikt een hoogtepunt met het ondenkbare moment van diens overlijden. In een poging om haar verdriet te transformeren naar nieuw leven, besluit Sarah haar eicellen in te vriezen. Zo hoopt ze de cyclus van leven, dood en wedergeboorte verder te zetten.
