One day in the summer of 1974, Daan and Jonas are stuck with each other. As the boys wander around Amsterdam and try to get along, the police search for Catootje, a missing girl.

synopsis

It’s the day after West Germany beat the Netherlands in the 1974 soccer World Championship final. Amsterdam has a hangover, so 12-year-old Jonas and 13-year-old Daan have nothing to do but loaf about. Jonas’ best friend Karsten has returned suddenly from holiday, to be questioned by the police. Does he know something about Catootje, a girl who went missing five days ago? They stroll through their neighbourhood, find an antique dish on a piece of wasteland and watch police divers drag a nearby pond to no avail. The mystery of the girl’s disappearance clouds the day. Will Catootje return?
De zomer van 1974. De stad is leeg, al hun vrienden zijn op vakantie en Daan en Jonas – geen vrienden – zullen het gewoon met elkaar moeten doen. Maar hun hoofden zitten vol met Catootje, die weg is, maar niet op vakantie.
