synopsis

After a fight with his father over breakfast, Whitey is beaten by the schoolmaster and confined to the punishment cubicle where he discovers the books of Hendrik Conscience. He gets home much too late, where he is told he has to go to farmer Coene where he will have to work regularly from then on. It turns out bad already on the first day as he escapes to go skinny dipping with his mates. But he's discovered by his mom who takes home his clothes...
Après une dispute avec son père à propos du petit déjeuner, Whitney est battu par le maître d’école et enfermé dans le cabinet à punition où il découvre les livre d’Hendrik Conscience. Il revient à la maison beaucoup trop tard, où on lui dit qu’il doit aller à la ferme de monsieur Coene dans laquelle il devra désormais travailler régulièrement. Il se conduit mal dès le premier jour en s’enfuyant pour aller prendre un bain de minuit avec ses amis. Mais il est surpris par sa mère qui reprend ses vêtements à la maison…
