In Women, the filmmaker steps between different worlds, going from West to East, from urban to rural surroundings. Her encounters with the experiences and observations of rural Indian women provoke reflection on the process of empowerment. In an artistic ethnography we see and hear how they are using education, technology and politics to redefine their destinies. How are the women fighting to get their stories heard? Can the filmmaker tell other women's stories?
Dans Women (Mahila), la réalisatrice passe d’un monde à l’autre, en allant d’Ouest en Est, des environnements urbains aux environnements ruraux. Ses rencontres avec les expériences et observations de femmes indiennes habitant dans un environnement rural provoquent une réflexion sur le processus de l’autorité. Dans une ethnographie artistique, nous voyons et entendons comment elles utilisent l’éducation, la technologie et la politique pour redéfinir leur destinée. En suivant les souvenirs de la réalisatrice, nous nous posons des questions sur la narration. Comment ces femmes se battent-elles pour faire entendre leur histoire ? La réalisatrice peut-elle raconter l’histoire d’autres femmes ?
