EN - The number-one box office hit in Flanders in 2003. When a key civil servant is murdered, the Antwerp police force puts its top crime investigators on the case: Vincke and Verstruyft . The trail leads to hitman Angelo Ledda. Showing symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, Ledda finds it increasingly difficult to carry out assignments. When he discovers that he is being used in a political power game, he decides to bite the hand that feeds. Vincke and Verstruyft have a hard time trying to disentangle the web of intrigues, settlements and networks, in order to prevent further killings.

Lorsqu’un fonctionnaire important est assassiné, la force de police d’Anvers met ses meilleurs enquêteurs sur le coup : Vincke et Verstruyft.  La piste les mène au tueur à gages Angelo Ledda. Présentant les symptômes de la maladie d’Alzheimer, Ledda éprouve de plus en plus de difficultés à accomplir ses missions. Lorsqu’il découvre qu’il est utilisé dans un jeu de pouvoir de politiciens, celui-ci décide de se retourner contre ses employeurs.  Vincke et Verstruyft ont du fil à retordre pour démêler le réseau d’intrigues et d’accords, afin d’empêcher de nouveaux meurtres d’être commis.

Flanders foursome selected for Festroia’s competition

Four Flemish features have been selected for competition at the 29th Festroia International Film Festival in Portugal (7-16 June). Brasserie RomantiqueThe Broken Circle BreakdownOffline and Time of My Life are all in the running to take home some prizes. This year, the festival has also organised a focus on Belgium and pays homage to Flemish actor Jan Decleir.

Madly in LoveBoth Joel Vanhoebrouck’s Brasserie Romantique and Felix van Groeningen’s The Broken Circle Breakdown screen as part of the fest’s official competition. Peter Monsaert’s directorial debut Offline is selected for the competitive First Works section, while Nic Baltazar is competing in the Man and His Environment category with Time of My Life.

Eye on Flanders in Les Arcs

All eyes are on Flanders at this year’s European Film Festival in Les Arcs (15-22 December), with the fest organising a Focus on Belgium. No less than eight Flemish features, as well as three shorts are part of the focus. Belgian Cinema from Flanders is also well represented at the Arc 1950 coproduction forum with three projects on the bill. Additionally, Peter Brosens and Jessica Woodworth’s The Fifth Season is screening in the International Competition in Les Arcs and therefore in the running for a Crystal Arrow.

Chaired by Artistic Director Frédéric Boyer, who after Cannes’ International Critics’ Week is also artistically leading the Tribeca Film Festival, the selection committee in Les Arcs nominated eight Flemish feature films and three shorts.

Van Looy to direct US Loft remake

Director Erik Van Looy is set to direct the remake of his original 2008 box office hit Loft. Anonymous Content's Steve Golin, Paul Green, Matt DeRoss and Adam Shulman will produce along with Hilde DeLaere of Belgium’s Woestijnvis, the producer of the original. Wesley Strick will adapt the original screenplay by Van Looy and Bart De Pauw.

Still from the original LoftLoft follows five married friends who decide to rent a loft together where they can bring their mistresses. When the body of an unknown woman is found in the loft, they realise that they don't know each other as well as they thought and begin to suspect one another of murder.
