Led by enthusiastic playwright and would- be director Jan Delvo, the troupe's spirited efforts often outweigh their talent. Company president Jos is hell-bent on reversing their fortune, even if it means replacing Jan with a professional director.

synopsis

Tucked away in a tiny, nondescript parish hall, the 'De Pajotters' theatre company toils away on its latest amateur production. Led by enthusiastic playwright and would-be director Jan Delvo, the troupe's spirited efforts often outweigh their talent. However, not every member is swept up by Jan's quirky charm. It's been 40 years since 'De Pajotters' were last selected for the Koninklijk Landjuweel, a competition honouring the country's best amateur theatre troupes. Company president Jos is hell-bent on reversing their fortune, even if it means replacing Jan with a professional director, Stanny Krets.
De enthousiaste Jan Delvo is de bezieler en regisseur van dienst achter het amateurtoneelgezelschap 'De Pajotters'. Jaarlijks schrijft hij zijn eigen deurenkomedie. Jan is er van overtuigd dat zijn nieuwste stuk 'De lavabo van tante Jos', hét ticket wordt voor het Koninklijk Landjuweel, de jaarlijkse wedstrijd voor het beste amateurgezelschap, waar ze al jaren naast grijpen. Zo hoopt Jan eindelijk in de voetsporen van zijn vader te kunnen treden, die er als vorige regisseur wél in geslaagd is om de prestigieuze prijs binnen te halen.
Wat Jan echter niet weet, is dat Jos Van Beneden, de voorzitter van het gezelschap, andere plannen heeft. Vastberaden om het Landjuweel binnen te halen, besluit die immers hulp van buitenaf in te schakelen. Zo heeft hij een professionele regisseur weten te overtuigen om 'De Pajotters' te coachen richting Landjuweel: Stanny Krets. Dit tot groot enthousiasme van de groep, behalve Jan: die stelt zich meteen vragen bij de komst van Stanny en hoe zijn rol als vaste regisseur nu ingevuld zal worden.
