The TV series Cataract portrays the story of Elisabeth Donkers, a single-minded 38-year-old woman. When she finds out that the fruit company owned by her father-in-law Roger is about to go bankrupt, she convinces her husband (the eternally indecisive Frank), her brother-in-law Paul (a hedonist with few ambitions in life) and her sister-in-law An (a quiet woman who wants a child more than anything else), to take over the company and expand and modernise it. In addition to business problems and family confrontations, Elisabeth also wrestles with a highly personal problem: there is something wrong with her eyes. When her sight problems turn out to have family consequences and things escalate around her, she makes a major mistake...
