Melina is nine, old enough in Iran to bring a legal case to choose her own guardian. But having her day in court does not mean her dearest wish will be granted.

synopsis

Melina lives with her grandparents, in Isfahan, Iran. She wants to live with her mother, but this is not possible because both her father and her new stepfather are against it. Her parents are divorced, and her mother struggles to balance her relationships with her new husband and her daughter. At the age of nine, Melina is old enough to bring a custody case to court. With the law on her side, she hopes finally to choose her own guardian. Unfortunately, Melina is not aware how the adult world is organised, and that reality will probably play out differently.
