synopsis

At a petrol station, a middle-aged couple is brutally murdered for no apparent reason. Before tearing off with screeching tyres, the assailants steal important documents from the victims' Mercedes. Police detective Daerden, who is conducting an undercover operation at a nearby night club, drives to the scene of the crime and is also hit by the gang. That same night, investigating magistrate Siccard arrives and questions Daerden. They both launch an investigation into, unaware of the web of dubious practices, blackmail between law enforcement agencies and political intrigues they have got themselves into. The script is based on facts, namely the brutal slayings committed in Belgium in the eighties. In 1998, these crimes with 34 killings are still unsolved. Director Julien Vrebos does not so much emphasise the traumatic and murderous actions, but rather reflects the atmosphere of insecurity and instability created by extreme-right-wing politicians, corrupt police and ordinary gangsters all involved in the same conspiracy.
Dans une station-service, un couple d’une cinquantaine d’années est brutalement assassiné sans raison apparente. Avant de s’enfuir dans un crissement de pneus, les agresseurs volent des documents importants dans la Mercedes des victimes. Daerden, un détective contribuant à une opération secrète dans une boîte de nuit avoisinante, roule vers les lieux du crime et est, à son tour, agressé par la bande. La même nuit, le magistrat Siccard arrive et interroge Daerden. Ensemble, ils entament une enquête, inconscients du réseau de pratiques douteuses, chantages entre les agences du maintien de l’ordre et les complots politiques dans lesquels ils s’aventurent. Le scénario est inspiré de faits réels, à savoir les meurtres brutaux commis en Belgique dans les années 80. 34 de ces crimes restent non élucidés. Le réalisateur Julien Vrebos ne met pas tellement l’accent sur le traumatisme et sur les actions meurtrières, mais reflète plutôt l’atmosphère d’insécurité et d’instabilité créée par des politiciens d’extrême droite, une police corrompue et des criminels ordinaires tous impliqués dans le même complot.
